I can, unfortunately, confirm that this is true, having just spoken with the
customer service staff at Burger King.  I have previously dealt with the head
of B.K's food preparation division, Chet England, and have already put in a
call to him to get more details, and to register a vigorous protest.  The
customer service staff could only say that the test is limited to certain
stores in each region, but that most regions around the US were participating
(thankfully, not California, at least not yet).  I will report further details
as soon as I know them.
