Are you allergic to cornstarch ?
If not you could use cornstarch one on one for the arrowroot in the recipes.
If you are "crazy" enough to make your own arrow root powder you can try
the two following things.:
1. Go to chinese or other asian stores and purchase dried arrowroot pieces.
You can soak them and cook them like potatoes.Once they are cooked you
could mash them and use them in the recipe You have to adjust the liquid in
the recipe.

2. If you are really wild you do the following.Buy the arrowroot pieces and
a big piece of white linnen. Cook the arrowroot until totally overcooked
and falling apart. Now through out the left over pieces, but keep the water.
Spread the linnen outside in the hot sun and pour the water through the
linnen, making sure you collect the water that runs through. Let dry and
scrape of the white powder that you now will see. Repeat until all water is
gone.

Arrowroot and cornstarch are interchangebal and do the same thing, there is
no real advantage by using arrowroot except if you are allergic . Arrowroot
might be slightly easier to digest.

Again i cannot mention the company that could get you glutenfree arrowroot
powder because i am sort of connected to them.
I heard they do like bearberries.
