"confirmed Celiac"

There has been discussion recently on being a "confirmed celiac" vs a non
biopsy confirmed celiac. If one feels better going gluten free what is the
difference? Is there some advantage to being "Confirmed"? Just wondering?

In my case, the doctor did the biopsy, when it came back with flat
villi, he did the blood test to confirm celiac. He was as surprised as I was.

Another question that comes to mind: Since this took place with an almost
routine exam is it more probable that I have had celiac for a long period
of time, or did something trigger it in the last 6 months? If the later is
true, if I had a biopsy a year ago would that have come back negative or
positive for celiac?

Curious.

Cindy
