I am new to the list so my questions may have been addressed in the past,
but I have a few questions:
1. I have been on a gluten free diet for about a year now. While my
symptoms are gradually disappearing, I still can't tolerate any lactose.
Even one piece of choclate (Dove, dark which the company assures me is
gluten-free) I have some diarrhea. I would we willing to ignore this but I
have lost about 15 pounds in the last year and the nutritionist I went to
when first diagnosed says I have to gain some weight. I'm having a hard
time coming up with high calorie foods that I can tolerate when all milk
products are also taboo (e.g., too many nuts give me severe cramps). Does
anyone have any hints for me? Most people I know are very unsympathetic to
my problem! From what I've read most people gain weight after becoming
gluten-free.
2. I am still hopeful that one day I may be able to tolerate lactose.
Does this ever happen after a year plus on a gluten-free diet?
Thanks!
