My experience with bananas is that they probably saved my life.  I was diag-
nosed (sort of) in 1943, before the gluten link was discovered.  I was fed
bananas, cottage cheese, and maybe a few vegetables or scraps of meat mixed
into the mashed bananas for the first 8 or so years of my life.  Boring, but
I survived.  When ripe and mashed they were quite easy to digest.

Of course, it took me a long time as an adult to CHOOSE to eat a banana. :-)
