I am a newley diagnosed celiac patient with a history of being treated
for Irritable bowel syndrome for a long time. I had a prolapse about 4
years ago and underwent surgery to correct the problem.

I am under the care of a surgeon who after many blood tests, lower GI's
did an endescopic bioposy and was diagnosed with celiac sprue. I am his
first patient, the nutritionist 4'th and the worst case of sprue that
the pathologist ever saw.

I am a proud Air Force wife with two little girls,my oldest with
Attention Deficit Disorder.

My father, middle sister, Grandmother, and all my Aunts and Uncles on my
father's side are Diabeties. I lost my father almost two years ago. I
seem to be so sensitive to so many things. My Dr.,s knowledge is limited
about Celiac and so I Must try to find other reasourses for help and
information. Has anyone had reactions to COKE or various spices, like
oregano and cinnamon? I enjoy cooking and have always like to bake, but
I find I have a very tender tummy right now. I've lost a lot of weight
and would like to maintain a weight carefully without any adverse side
effects. Is it normal to have choking and chewing difficulties?

I have a WELBILT BREAD MACHINE AND use it alot,

I would appreciate knowing what type of rice's, white, brown, wild , etc
is safe and creative ways to cook and season. I know I must keep it
simple now, but it's diffult to raise two children when your healthy.

What is safe to prepare now and to drink without the stomach cramps and
diarrhea? Will I ever be able to get above 89 lbs and is there a risk of
Diabeties showing up later on in life?

Coke caused me to have severe stomach distress and cramping, I had La
Choy sweet and sour sauce on rice and discovered after it was two late
that it contained vingegar.

I have a sweet tooth, but if I just don,t hurt any more, the diarrhea
goes away and my weight and strengh and energy are renewed it will be
like being born again to me. I am proud of my husband,s carrer in the
Air Force and he can have all the Big Mac's he wants, the children love
pizza and hot dogs, and I will continue baking for them. Is is necessary
to clean the bread machine out thoroughly after baking there bread
before I bake mine?

Does anyone have recipes for waffles or pancakes that are simple to
prepare or cookie or desert recipes?

I have a bad cold, is medical and dental care going to be different and
how so? I'll learn the hard and painful way it seems, with a 4 month or
more healing period I must go through.

Please send your responses as soon as possible so I won,t feel so lost
and alone.

Thanks, April
