I am in my late 50's and have been on a gluten free diet for more than 20
years when I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue. That diagnosis was confirmed
with a biopsy about 5 years ago.

I wonder if anyone out there has had none of the typical symptoms but, like
me, has been definitely diagnosed has celiac.

With the exception of a three week bout with diarrhea immediately before the
original diagnosis, I have never had that typical Celiac symptom.

I have experienced constipation, stomach pains and excessive gas since
childhood. Although the diet has helped, it has not removed these symptoms.

I am very aware of watching out for hidden gluten, read labels, contact
companies, etc.

I never have an immediate reaction to food and therefore have no way of
knowing if I have accidentally ingested some gluten.
I can feel ok for a period of time and then with no apparent reason have
weeks or months of discomfort.

Please let me know it there is anyone else out there who has a similiar
situation.
