KJ, Kat & all,

Maybe you've made it through without having your body become deformed. MY spine
is slowly twisting my torso so that my shoulder is rising up... my fingers no
longer all straighten out. It is a bit depressing, but in no way would this
cause me to commit suicide. Most people are NOT deformed or disabled and yet
they commit suicide every day. Mike is absolutely right, when we have control
and autonomy in our lives, when we have clear goals, or purpose we can strive
toward, then we can easily shrug off the weirdos who stare. Don't get me wrong,
you have the right to be pissed when people don't treat you as a full human
being. It's a lonely road for many, disabled or not. Life can throw stuff at us,
and we can either choose to become stronger for it, or we can let it defeat us.
If you are feeling bad, KJ, please ask to see a counselor!

I WAS surprised to see you ask this KJ, because in a recent chat on Facebook,
you told me you were the happiest you have ever been! You have changed adult
homes, and you said it was great! So, what's going on?

Thanks,
Tamar

Hi, KJ,

I have to admit I couldn't believe my eyes when I first read this email -
why do you use the word "deformity?" We are not deformed.

Is someone labelling you as deformed? That's just plain not right.

Kat
