Hi All~~

My original post was asking for information regarding gluten free and dairy
free baguettes, much like the French bread we used to eat. I've eaten
Against the Grain, which was pretty wonderful, but it contains dairy
(mozzarella cheese). Your responses are below. Since my query, I've tried
Dr. Schar. Their baguette is soft, not very large around, and it doesn't
get crusty when baked. It does have a nice flavor with just the tiniest bit
of sweetness, almost an afterthought. Against the Grain's baguette is
crusty on the outside, and very much like a popover on the inside - moist
and not at all like a traditional bread. But it is very good. Thanks to
everyone who responded...how nice to know of the many options we have out
there!! If I missed someone, please email me and I'll amend my summary.

I have bought gfdf demi-baguettes at whole foods. They are take and bake,
but yummy warm out of the oven. They refreeze well also. They are from
EuroClassics Imports and made in Spain. Williamstown NJ
866-740-4324Package reads df,sf,gf,nf & lactose free, about 12" loaf.
I never ordered
but good luck if you do.

Here's a link to the Schar website so you can see the baguettes but
hopefully you can find them wherever you are.

I don't know if these contain dairy, but Everybody Eats in New York makes
GF baguettes. They must be toasted, but they are very good. The baguettes
are a little smaller than Against the Grain baguettes. They can be sliced
in round slices and brushed with olive oil, toasted in the oven and can be
used that way with dips or for bruchetta. The shipping cost is a little
high for these, too, depending on where you live. But you can keep them in
the freezer for 6 months...Thank goodness for Udi's and Glutino Genius,
Against the Grain and Everybody Eats.

Two popular ones in the Chicago area, Against the Grain, *[7 for Against
the Grain]* which I believe is national, and Deerfield bakery. They are in
Illinois, but you can order online.

...my favorite is a baguette from Sweet Christine's Bakery. As someone with
Celiac disease herself, Christine makes all her products gluten-free and
the baguette is also dairy-free. It's rustic and crusty on the outside and
soft and fluffy on the inside and full of flavor. Great for sandwiches or
now with all the tomatoes bursting out of my garden, I use it to make fresh
bruschetta.
You can order through her website, www.sweetchristinesglutenfree.com, and
shipping is reasonable. Lots of other goodies on her site as well-muffins,
cookies, brownies, hamburger/hot dog buns, pizza crusts, cakes-

You have got to try LocalOven.com I don't know if the baguette is dairy
free but some of their products are. It was the first bread she started
with. They are located locally here in the Dallas area and Linda Fitzerman
is a member of our GiG Dallas group. Two or three years ago she started
developing her baguettes first and they are delicious. She sells to the
local restaurant distributors but she also has a store front and online
store and have added several other breads. The pictures you see on the
website are exactly how great they look and taste.

We live in Northern California and my sister works in SF near Mariposa
Bakery and regularly picks up baked goods for my daughter from them. We
also order by mail from them.
Mariposa Rosemary rolls and Sandwich Rolls and Focaccia bread are all VERY
good. This is an opinion from someone who has tried almost EVERY GF product
on the market! ( As a treat to yourself, it might be worth the splurge just
to try them) Their products freeze well. I think their shipping is high
because they use a two day rate. We usually get our orders within two days
from ordering.
_____
We make large Italian baguettes that are gluten and dairy free. Here's our
website link...you can order great pasta here as well. We're developing
another French style baguette that is delicious, smaller in circumference
and very crusty. Good shelf life if you choose 2nd day delivery. Thanks,
