My family recently ate at our local Souplantation (which is a huge salad and soup bar) and enjoyed it very much. I love salads so it was a nice treat to have many options to create my own salad. However, as usually is the case, there was no nutritional information to help me in my search for what was safe (gluten free, dairy free, etc) and what was not. The servers were not aware of food allergens or what may be gluten free so they were not any help. I contacted the company via the website to see if they had a list of food ingredients/allergens that one with food sensitivities might use for reference and this is the response I got:

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a specialized list of our food items for your request. I will add your inquiry to the others I have received and share it with our menu and nutrition department.

Each of the restaurants has a complete ingredient list at each bar called the Product Information Binder. You can always ask to look at it if you are in doubt.

Sincerely,

Garden Fresh Consumer Affairs

The standard fare at these type restaurants is pretty much the same - salad and soup - but it would be nice to know that I could enjoy my meal without a reaction just by making smart food choices to begin with. With that said, I'd like to encourage folks to respond to Souplantation and encourage them to offer some type of guide that those of us who suffer from food allergies/intolerances could use to make wise choices to prevent a reaction issue.

The website address to contact them is http://www.souplantation.com/talktous/

Here's to healthy and SAFE eating!
