Subject: Media Accreditation Process for Vancouver Winter Paralympics

Bonn, Germany - From 12-21 March 2010, the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter
Games will attract around 1,000 media representatives to Vancouver and
Whistler, Canada, to cover the Games and report about the achievements of
Paralympic athletes from all over the world. In the course of the
preparation for this unique event, the International Paralympic Committee
(IPC) and the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee (VANOC) are collaborating
to ensure a successful media accreditation process.

After the Paralympic Games in Athens 2004, Torino 2006, and Beijing 2008 it
is the fourth time in the history of the Paralympics, that the media
accreditation process for the Paralympics will be managed similarly to that
of the Olympic Games. This means that the main contact for media
accreditation will be the National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), who will
have a broader scope of responsibility in facilitating the accreditation
process for national media agencies and individuals.

The aim of this increased involvement by NPCs is to enhance the media
coverage of the Paralympics. VANOC will manage the accreditation process for
rights holding broadcasters. The accreditation process for non-rightsholding
broadcasters will be handled by the IPC.

VANOC has already distributed the Press by Number Accreditation Application
Forms and further information to all NPCs, which are forwarding the material
to all interested media organizations.

More information about the accreditation process for written and
photographic press, non-rights holding radio and television broadcasting
companies as well as rights-holding broadcasters can be found in the
Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games section of the IPC website
(www.paralympic.org) or the official website of VANOC at
www.vancouver2010.com.

IPC aims to promote the Paralympic values, which include courage,
determination, inspiration and equality.

Founded on 22 September 1989, the IPC is an international non-profit
