The set of four anti-body tests can be used after a diagnosis that includes
a biopsy to be certain that small enough levels of toxic grain proteins
are actually being eaten.
Questions:
1. Are the tests sensitive to all four grains? Reticulin and EmA
perhaps pick up the non-gliadins?
2. Should all four be used or (less expensive) perhaps 2 or 3 at
a time, with rotation of omitted ones?
3. How often? Does that depend on sensitivity for overt
(immediate) response? That is, more often for those less
sensitive because they can unknowingly eat the offending
proteins.
4. Reimbursement --insurance companies seem to recognize
the tests for diagnosis, but repeated testing?
Answers to 2 and 3 may differ for celiacs originally diagnosed by biopsy
and the antibodies, for those diagnosed only by biopsy, for those dxed by
antibody with response to GF diet, and for those "dxed" only by response to
diet.
