Dear List,

Thank you for all the responses. The overwhelming consensus is that it is
within a parents rights and duties to bring their own child up with whatever
diet they wish, as long as the child is not harmed. There are moral,
religious, preferential, and many other reasons that we chose the diets we
do for our families. Vegan, fast-food, kosher, and everything in between
are diets chosen by parents for their children. Those who responded stated
that NOT feeding a child a gluten free diet when it abates symptoms and is
recommended by the Dr. would be abusive.

As far as testing goes...all replies stated that false negatives are very
common and that a month of gluten is no where near enough. It was also
pointed out that once adolescence begins the symptoms of Celiac seem to
disappear. I know this quite well, as it happened to a friend of the
family and to myself as a teen. A great reference was given to look at this
website for testing and symptomology:

I was concerned about this because my child was put into foster care months
ago and the state gave her a blood test, said she never had Celiac and that
I have Muchausons? by proxy and should have my parental rights
terminated....
Hysterical...huh?

Thank you all for responding. I will continue my fight against the
insane...
