Hi All--

A couple of people responded to my post regarding a study done that
indicated calcium supplements might increase vascular events/heart attacks.

Hopefully they will do more research and include vitamin D as well as other
vitamins/supplements that are important to increasing bone density. There
are a lot of reasons for bone loss too and if they didn't differentiate
causes, I think that could be an issue too.

Of course we are all familiar with the concept of what's good for one person
can be harmful to another!

I take calcium...lots of it, but the owner of our local healthfood store
warns that whatever we don't absorb for our bones gets deposited in our
arteries as placque and in our joints as bone spurs. (I didn't read the
article, which may say the same thing, because I don't want to register with

Medscape, and it seems we have to register to read the article...at least
that's what happened when I tried the link.)

If anyone has other comments or response articles they've found, I'll be
glad to post them as another summary. ~~Ayn in Alabama
