A new study of gut microflora in first-degree relatives of children with
CD shows an altered composition of gut microflora compared to gut
microflora in healthy controls. These results support the hypothesis
that gut microflora may have a role in the pathogenesis of CD.

Also, a preliminary study suggests an association between CD and
hearing loss.
