OK, so I went and camped in the line at the Walgreens and explained the situation to the tech. She pulled the bottle off the shelf, checked the pills inside to be sure that was what I had recieved (yes), and then said it was by Teva. I asked to see the bottle myself... Lo and behold: Manufactured by Novopharm FOR Teva. Well, that is a different story, then, since Novopharm rainitidine I have listed on a GF drug list... Here were the responses that I received (believe me, I will follow-through with Walgreens!):

-- There are over half a dozen companies that manufacture ranitidine.
However, I believe Novopharm may be the ranitidine manufacturer that uses
the imprint you describe. You can contact them here: 1-800-634-2249.
  (Great call!! - Beth)

-- We use Walgreen's, too. I have had trouble finding the gluten status
on various drugs myself with them. I had them put my name as "<erased name>
Gluten-Free Martin" because it is so important to a Celiac. I would suggest
you do what I did: call your Walgreen's and ask for their corporate office
number and talk to them about your problem. The corporate office will tell
you what they told me: that individual Walgreen's can call the manufacturer
and find out if your medicine is gluten-free for you. Just be
matter-of-fact, business-like, and insistent. Works like a charm.

-- If you haven't tried this yet, put "ranitidine 300mg gluten" into Google and
see what you come up with. I just did, and it had lots of hits. I looked at several. Click on .....cached.... rather than the website, and it will take you to the place on that link that has those words. It is my new favorite way to use Google!

-- Get the number of Walgreen's corporate headquarters, and call the office of the CEO. They don't like bad publicity. Tell them a no answer policy will get them blogged into outer space.

-- I found it listed on www.glutenfreedrugs.com as being gluten free (Once I found out it was Novopharm, that is exactly where it is! Teva was not listed- Beth)
