Hi All,
Last night I was watching The show Medium (about a woman with psychic abilities who helps solve crimes) and there were three references to the gluten free diet.
On the show the woman's daughter just made friends with a new girl and invited her for a sleepover. Evidently the daughter created a shopping list for the mom and when the dad asked about the list the mom explains, with sarcasm in her voice, the new friend is "allergic to gluten". Later in the show the daughter asks the mom if she picked up tofu because her friend loves tofu on her pizza. I of course thought "AHA - caught you - a celiac cannot have your pizza crust!!" However -later in the show a reference is made to the fact the mom was late because she had to wait an hour to pick up a gluten free pizza crust. Pretty good!
It was nice to hear "us" mentioned on mainstream TV but why does it always have to be presented negatively, even if subtlety? Of course I was thinking "wow - where does she buy freshly made gluten free pizza crust?????"
Just thought I'd share!
