I finally had my first sips of beer in almost 15 years this evening! Mm-mm.
Whole Foods in Sacramento, California, USA, brought in some Ramapo Valley
Passover Honey Beer yesterday. My memory on this is extremely foggy, but it
tastes like Little Kings Beer to me, a little bit sweet and fairly light.
My husband tasted it and thought it tasted somewhat like Coor's Beer. I
know others have discussed this beer, too (thanks to this list we have all
been asking for these beers!), but here is the information again for those
who have not seen it before: The complete list of ingredients is water,
molasses, hops, honey, and Passover yeast, and it has 5% alcohol by volume.
It is kosher, made under the supervision of Rabbi Zushe Blech. This is the
brewery's website: http://www.ramapovalleybrewery.com/ For some reason you
now have to be 21 years old to *read* about the beers on their website!?!?
Strange prohibition laws.

Anyway, I think this beer tastes like it would make a good beer bread. Has
anyone tried this, and if so, would you mind sharing any successful recipes?
I'm thinking that a sorghum and brown rice flour blend would be best,
myself. If no one has any good recipes, I think I'll just start playing
around, and I'll share any good recipes if I come up with any.

BTW, anyone know if any of the new gluten-free beers taste like a) Heineken,
b) Hacker-Pschorr Weiss Bier, or - hope of hopes - c) Guiness Stout? I hope
that our local Whole Foods (or someone else) in our area will start bringing
in other brands too, and I'm sure I'll try them all, but those three flavor
profiles are the ones I'd really like to find. Ramapo Valley is good (even
my husband, who doesn't like most gluten-free foods, liked it), but now I'm
in the mood for a good, dark stout too.

I look forward to your replies,

Kirsten
