Hi -
I was able to reach the manufacturers this morning - Allerx is 
manufactured by Cornerstone Compounding Pharmacy and they say it is 
gluten free.  Tessalon, according to the manufacturer, Forest, is GF as 
far as they know, which means that their suppliers don't list any 
gluten containing ingredients but they have never inspected their 
plants and so don't know.

Editorial rant:  How can you responsibly run a drug business without 
being intimately aware of what you put into your drugs?  How can you  
provide quality control?  Do they expect their customers to just cross 
their fingers and hope for the best?

I received two responses to my email -
One said she had taken Tessalon before with no ill effects, although 
she hadn't checked it out.

The other suggested getting a prescription for Robitussen with codeine. 
  Since it is a liquid the amount given can be easily regulated.  If a 
person is allergic to corn syrup, you can have it compounded by a 
pharmacy. This wouldn't work for us as our daughter has a very queasy 
stomach, made worse by drainage associated with this illness, and she 
tolerates pills better than she does liquid or chewable medicines.
