Last month I requested information on gluten free friendly restaurants in the
South Lake Tahoe area; especially any place that might serve GF pasta. Many
many thanks to all those who responded. Here is the summary:
Can't help on the pasta but Freshies in South lake tahoe does fish &chips,
Chart House has some great grilled items &salad bar &a hop over the mountain in
Genoa is the only 5 star restaurant in nevada LaFerma, a lot of their food is
GF if you do not get the sauces on it - also if you get the ice cream
(homemade) for dessert be sure to tell them not to put a cookie in it. It is two guys &
there food is awesome &VERY affordable
If you are traveling between South lake Tahoe and San Francisco, we
have a gluten free restaurant in Davis, just off Highway 80. It's
about 2 hours from Tahoe. We serve homemade gluten free ravioli,
linguine and fettucine. Our website is http://www.naturalfoodworks.com.
Call ahead to be sure what you want is on the menu that day.
We were just there a couple of weeks ago and went to Freshies for GF
fish and chips. What a treat! They don't use wheat in the restaurant
except soy sauce so there was a lot to choose from. Sorry, don't
remember about pasta or not.
I also found a bakery via a google search called Perkins
http://www.perkinsorganicgoodness.com
they were closed the day I went there so didn't talk with anyone but may be a
good place to check out.
I live in Truckee, but don't eat out much. The chef at Dragonfly in Truckee
(Billy McCollough) is very knowledgeable and can make menu adjustments,
especially if given some advance notice. (Although he's done it on the fly
for me as well.) The restaurant itself is upscale, but kid-friendly, with a
children's menu. I'm the celiac in the family, so I'm not sure how adjustable
the children's menu is, but I'm pretty sure there's a rice noodle dish with a
choice of toppings...

Moody's in Truckee is another excellent choice, that could make
accommodations
with advance notice.

The Dory's Oar is wonderful - a restaurant in a house a couple of blocks
off main street - call from instructions. It's been there for years and
they have fresh seafood and steaks and can't remember all but it's worth
the trip.
Hi, try Freshies in South Lake Tahoe - I have not been there but I read about
it on this list I think. Everything is GF fish &chips fried in
cornstarch or rice flour - something like that. I have friends in Tahoe
&they eat there all the time.
The Tahoe casinos have some upscale restaurants that I am sure they can
fix something for you. The Red Hut for breakfast - is good for regular
food - family owned I think if you let them know ahead about GF etc - they
might be able to do something for you. Then there is LaFerme a 5 star
french restaurant in Genoa - white table clothes - but very low key &
although they have a bar area - I would take a child there.
Then there is the Wild Rose Inn B &B in Genoa that I posted about awhile
back - the owner is very GF friendly &even has an extra refrig in the
dining room for food &meds etc.
I also like the Chart House - again a little upscale but they have a
wonderful salad bar &grilled entrees etc. - everything is casual in that
area...
