Dear Listmates:
After my summary was posted I received more information:
The name of the department store where GF food is available is EL
CORTE INGLES - which can be found in all major metropolitan areas.
It is a large department store with a grocery area included in the
basement (bajo). They are all over Spain.
In addition, I echo that *most* Spanish cooking does NOT have bread
within the ingredients. Fresh fish, seafood, veggies, fruits, etc
will be incredibly plentiful. Fresh bread is a daily purchase at
local bakeries and will show up at your tables at restaurants (high
end ones) if you don't say something.
Something to try in a local café: Tortilla Patata (Egg and potato
"tortilla"). No flour -just eggs, potatoes, onion, salt and pepper.
There are many tapas and foods you can have - really.
Thanks again to everyone.
Mary in NH
