Thank you for all the great recommendations! It does seem like a lot of us
are traveling these days.

The winner for the most responses is the Corbett Street Fish House located
near Lake Oswego whose owner is a celiac. Seven posters recommended this
restaurant, some are repeat customers every time they are in Portland. It
is like a neighborhood pub style place, very casual, that specializes in
deep fried fish. Not downtown but worth the trip - a short cab ride.
Everything is battered in rice flour and most of the menu is GF with items
such as batter fried oysters, clams, fish & chips, and clam chowder. Items
that are GF (including desserts) are clearly marked on the menu. One poster
recommended the Sweet Potato Fries and said her daughter likes the Fish
Tacos. Another poster said the cheesecake is wonderful. Corbett Fish
House, 5901 SW Corbett Ave, Portland, OR 97201; 503-246-4434;

Andina, 1324 N.W. Glisan St., 503-228-9535, www.andinarestaurant.com.

One poster said Andina's food (and service and atmosphere and ...) is out of
this world!!!!!! Several posters recommended Andina's.

One poster said: A great dining experience. It is an upscale place, a bit
spendy, but worth every penny. The owner has cd, as well as two of their
children.

Almost everything they offer is gf, including a completely gf dessert menu!
It is worth checking out! This may be close enough to warrant a taxi.

Old Wives' Tale, 1300 E. Burnside St., 503-238-0470. Several posters
mentioned this restaurant which has a GF menu.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro, 1139 N.W. Couch St., 503-432-4000. Several
posters mentioned P.F. Chang's.

Talarico's (a little further away in Lake Oswego (20 minutes from downtown?)
- offers fabulous gf pizza!

Whole Foods - closest food store to downtown

Wild Oats - several stores in Portland

Trader Joes (like a grocery store, and has lots of GF items, store has
brochures that list the GF items they sell) two or three in Portland but you
would need transportation.

Several posters recommended websites and dining cards:
www.triumphdining.com; www.goodhealthpublishing.com;
www.glutenfreerestaurants.org <http://www.glutenfreerestaurants.org/>

Two posters forwarded previous summaries. They contain additional
restaurants but the information may not be up-to-date.

One poster recommended: www.gluten.net, click on Branches and Partners, then
click on Oregon. Find Portland, then locate the Portland-Metro GIG.

One poster recommended these two links from 2 recent articles in the
Oregonian. I found the articles to be very interesting and thought you
might too:

Again, thanks to all who responded to my request. I appreciate your help
and I hope this summary will be helpful to others. Cheryl in Anchorage,
