Hi:

I figured that a discussion on Whole Foods GF Bakehouse items would be
coming soon, so I held off on my following critique. When I was in
Pittsburgh several weeks ago, I made a special trip to the Whole Foods
there, specifically to try some of said items.

First, I want to applaud any company that makes an effort to produce gf food
in a dedicated facility. Without a doubt, this is progress for celiacs.

1. Cheddar Cheese Scones: Quite dry - but the "finish" of the bite was
tasty. I was extremely hungry when I tried these (travel will do that to
celiacs!), but my non-celiac co-tester agreed in my assessment. All in all
- I liked these a lot.

2. Blueberry Muffins: Ate these at home - microwaved them up. Really
good - moist. Another non-celiac opined that they were "okay".

3. Cream biscuits: For some dumb reason I thought that these were
cookies, but found out that they were biscuit biscuits after biting into one
(which was dry). The next day I decided to make a dinner entree and top it
with them - but eeeekkkk - there was black mold on them. ***Previous post
describing the freezing and reheating process would lead me to conclude that
these will not hold long - certainly not the couple days it took for me to
attempt to use them once home.

4. Chocolate/Raspberry Pound Cake: So-so, but frankly, after the mold
incident (above) I wasn't very "into" it - only had one piece - it was dry
and not as good as say, Pamela's brownies from the mix.

Second, I imagine that this venture will need to go thru several bumps and
grinds before getting it right. This review is not meant to run them down
at all because I would much rather see them make a go of it and become a big
player in the gf world. This is just simply meant to for the ListServ
Members information only. Lastly, I would say that they have priced their
items in a reasonable manner.

I have no affiliation with Whole Foods or any of it's subsidiaries.

-Laurie
