Hi Everyone- Well the information is slowly coming in. Obviously there are
many hair products out there to choose from but many of them say right on
the label "contains wheat starch, wheat germ oil etc."

Because I know there are many individuals out there that may be new to all
of this, I would like to state, it is my understanding that for a celiac to
have a reaction to gluten, it must be ingested. So for those new people
that might be asking themselves, why is shampoo a problem? It is a problem
for those Celiacs suffering with DH. The gluten containing products will
aggravate the skin condition if the cream, shampoo, conditioner, ointments,
etc.. contain gluten. It is a concern for Celiacs if the residue of the
shampoo as it is washed from your hair and runs into your mouth and is
ingested. I didn't believe that this amount of gluten could be a problem at
first, but for some it is. Therefore, it always best to double check the
labels and be aware of the fact that the minutest amount of gluten could be
causing a reaction.

I received the following information from Nexxus:

Thank you for taking the time to contact NexxusR Products Company. In
response to your inquiry regarding gluten-free products, if there is a
topical or dermal sensitivity issue with products that contain wheat, then
we suggest you avoid all of the NexxusR Foundations line that contains the
NexxuSpheresR ingredients, the VitaTressR line, our mousse and hair sprays.

You may use the products from the RetexxturR line and Specialty line, as
well as from the Phyto OrganicsR line; however, there is one product from
each of these three lines, RetexxturR Curl Rejuvenating Treatment, Simply
SilverR Colour Toning Shampoo and Phyto OrganicsR NectaressR Nourishing
Conditioner that contain wheat germ oil. Although the wheat germ oil may be
at low levels, you may still want to refrain from using these three
products.

We strongly recommend that prior to purchasing any NexxusR product you check
the ingredient listing on the backside of each bottle to make sure it does
not contain NexxuSpheresR or any other form of wheat.

For more information on our products, please feel free to access our newly
redesigned web site at www.nexxus.com <http://www.nexxus.com/> click on
"products" and then click on a product category to access in-depth
information on each individual product within that category.

We appreciate your interest in NexxusR products and hope this information
will be helpful to you.

Mastey Products- 1-800- 6mastey- Their products are GF.

Matrix mftr for Biolage- I received conflicting information about this line.
I am awaiting to hear about the Biolage Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner.
The other products in the Biolage line do contain gluten. I read for myself
on the label, "contains wheat."

The number to contact is 1-888-777-6396

Nioxxin Products are NOT GF. 1-800-628-9890

One online person suggested Neutrogena products. They are GF. I called the
company and they verified for me.

800-582-4048

Some other suggestions were California Baby which states on the website that
their products are GF.

I know many were waiting for this summary to help with their own walks-
unfortunately I feel as if I'm too blame for any disappointing news. I was
feeling more optimistic that there would be more commercial salon products
to work with. However, one suggestion would be to get hairdryers, flat
irons or curling irons from salons to use as a raffle item at the individual
walks. As soon as Matrix confirms for me about the GF possibility of Biolage
Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner I will post.

Hope this helps others with their walks! Good luck everyone!

Sincerely,

Karen
