Sorry for the late summary. Here are the suggestions I received.
1) Outback, Carrabbas, Bonefish grill
2) If you go to the I 26 & Harbison Blvd exit most national chains are
represented in the area.
3) Two health food stores that carry gluten free products/foods:
Earthfare and Rosewood Market.
4) Sticky Fingers GF items: Ribs (and all sauces except the Tennessee
Whiskey are GF), BBQ chicken, pulled pork and chicken, wings (really
good!), baked potatoes, cole slaw, nachos, salad w/o croutons (and
dressings-they are Ken's). There is one in the Irmo area near Columbiana
Mall (northwest) and one in the Northeast near Columbia Mall (on Two
Notch). Most Wendy's in town are okay, just make sure they have the
larger grill and keep the chicken (it isn't GF) separate from the
burgers. Longhorn in the Vista (just a few blocks from the museum) has
GF items, you just need to talk with a manager and explain your dietary
needs. There are a few Chic-fil-a's around town (one on Main St.). They
have GF items (grilled chicken, fries, coleslaw...check their website).
And there's a McDonalds a block from the museum. There are a few
McAlister Deli's around as well, and they have a few GF items. There's
one on Forest Dr in Forest Acres (somewhat close to downtown), there's
one in the Northeast and one in Irmo (northwest). Most of their spuds
(baked potatoes), their sandwich meat, most of their salads (no
croutons) and salad dressings are GF.
