Thanks to everyone who emailed me with info and suggestions for soy sauce substitutes. Here's the result:
1] Bragg's amino acids [made from soybeans]
2] LaChoy soy sauce
3] San-J Organic Tamari
4] Sanchi Tamari
Substitutions:
1] sesame oil
2] worchestershire sauce
3] fish sauce
4] curry, hot pepper, ginger and garlic
And two soy-free recipes I found on the internet:
Soy sauce substitute #1
2 T CF Beef Bouillon
2 t Red Wine Vinegar
1 t Molasses
1/8 t Ground Ginger
ds Black Pepper
ds Garlic Powder
3/4 c Water
In small sauce pan, combine and boil gently uncovered about 5 minutes or til mixture is reduced to 1/2 cup. Store in refrigerator. Stir before using. Yield: 8 Servings
Soy sauce substitute #2
4 T CF Beef Bouillon
4 T Cider Vinegar
1 t Molasses
1 1/2 c Water,Boiling
1/8 t Black Pepper
1 T Sesame Oil
Combine ingredients, stirring to blend thoroughly. Pour into jars. Cover and seal tightly. May be kept refrigerated indefinitely. Yield: 32 Servings
