Summers without a good bun for hamburgers or hot dogs are a thing of the past. Our original gluten-free Chebe Bread mix, and our gluten-free, lactose/casein-free Chebe mixes for pizza dough and garlic-onion bread sticks make a very tasty sandwich bun that can be used at your next cookout. This is what one customer claims:
" Your mix makes the best buns I have ever tasted since being diagnosed [with gluten intolerance]. Now when I go to a barbecue, I can have a sandwich or a hamburger and feel like everyone else. I thought I could never have a decent sandwich again, but thanks to your product I can. Thank you." - Levittown, PA.
Here is the recipe:
CHEBE BUNS
1) Make the dough according to package directions. (You may choose to add 1 tsp. of gluten-free baking powder to allow the bun to rise more.)
2) Divide the dough in four equal pieces and make each one into a "pattie" shape by flattening them to about 1/2 inch high.
3) Bake at 375 F for about 35 minutes (longer if the dough was stored frozen).
4) When baked, slice the bun and fill it with a grilled hamburger, cliced ham, or any other sandwich filling.
Option: One package will also make 5 to 6 hot dog buns. Just shape the dough into cylinders about 1.5 inch in diameter and bake accordingly. If the center does not bake thoroughly, open it by slicing it with a knife, then return it to the oven.
