Hi All:

The American Celiac Task Force has been working with the
Food Allergy Initiative on the food labeling issue.

A recent post may have inadvertently left the impression
that a food labeling bill has been introduced. In fact,
that has not happened.

When a bill is introduced, we are looking forward to working
hand-in-hand with the Food Allergy Initiative toward its
passage.

The support of House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), U.S.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Congressman Tom Delay (R-TX),
Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Congressman Mike Bilirakis
(R-FL) will be key in the passage of a food labeling bill.

If you reside in one of these states, IL, SC, TX, MO, or FL,
we encourage you to call these members [U.S. Capitol
switchboard at (800) 648-3516] and tell them:

    - I think manufacturers should list on labels food
allergens in their product.

     - Having this information on the label is critical for
your medical condition -- celiac disease.

The ACTF will continue to keep you updated on Congressional
activity relating food labeling issues as they happen.
