Hello,

I am looking for gluten-free antacids, both over-the-counter and
prescription. I looked in the archives and the last summary of antacids
was in early
2003, a year ago. I'm sure things have changed since then. I see that
Tums are
still not on the good list - bummer, because my doctor recommended taking them
for the calcium.

Lately, I've been plagued with what I call a sour stomach. I don't know how
to really explain it - just feeling sick. It comes over me several times a
day. I'm fairly certain it's not GERD from what I've been reading about that
and talking with my brother-in-law. In fact, I don't even think it could be
considered "heartburn". It started out (and continues) at night when I am
dropping off to sleep - I wake up suddenly with an overpowering feeling
that I'm
going to vomit - that my stomach is in my throat - but not an acid taste or
burning or anything - just a feeling of nausea. I sit bolt upright in bed
and the
feeling subsides. I don't have this sensation just laying in bed reading or
watching TV - it only happens as I'm dropping off to sleep. If I were to get
up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I wouldn't have it when I
fell back to sleep - it seems to happen when I first go to bed. I try not to
eat within 2-3 hours of going to bed but it's tough since I go to bed so early
in order to get up by 4am for work. I've added so many pillows under my
head, I'm nearly sitting up but it helps dramatically. I don't know if
this type
of this is from too much acid or not enough acid in the stomach. It's been
going on for years....but the daytime stuff for the past couple months. I've
been gf for nearly 7 years.

I'll be seeing my doctor late this next week and want to be ready if he
recommends either an OTC or prescription med. I will summarize.

Thanks!

Deb
