the other day i found an old post of mine to this list in a web page and i
was tickled pink. but what is even more tickling is that this event
triggered something inside of my inner being that caused me to see the
political picture in quite a different manner. what i mean by this is
that, for our time, jung psychology is the missing link that is so badly
needed today. the following is my current thoughts of this new political
picture. i am presenting it to you to get your reactions, both positive
and negative. thanks much.

according to my understanding of carl schmitt's political
i'm connecting
the political to the fields of -- but not exclusively

* jung psychology -- when the socratic lover & beloved relationship no
longer exists, the psychologist steps in to nurture the beloved's higher
power &/or the soul's physician is there to heal the beloved's soul.

* poetry -- when the philosopher has been silenced, the poet takes up the
slack.

i'm currently toying with the following perspectives:

* thomas bridges.  url
http://www.tamilnation.org/oneworld/civilsociety.htm
point of interest, the enlightenment legitimized liberalism in order to
undermine the lofty democratic ideals (para. 1).

* albert einstein. why socialism? url
http://jackson.comsvc.on.ca/kan/Einstein1.html
the focus, the theory & practice of conquest (para. 2).

* pua kanahele. regarding aloha 'aina, the consequence of western
conquest (pg. 43-44, source pending)

* chomsky url  http://flag.blackened.net/revolt/rbr/noambrb2.html
regarding the inquiry into our institutions of authority, power, and etc.
(para. 3).

* pua kanahele. young hawaiian warriors cannot be measured until a
recovery of her deep culture in the pacific is a reality (pg. 42).

* einstein. capitalism's worst evil is the crippling of the social
consciouness of individuals (6, 14, 18, 19).

* terrence c. wright.  "heidegger & heaney: poetry &possibility."
philosophy today, winter 1994. 390-398.
heidegger's idle chatter of the crowd that is controlled by das man (390).

* albert saijo. outspeaks a rhapsody. earth slanguage with english on it
(73-74). the language of judeo, roman....romanticism bullshit (73).

* tracy b. strong. "forward." the concept of the political.

Schmitt's conception of the political stands in opposition to his conception
of "political romanticism," the subject of one of his early books.
Political romanticism is characterized as a stance of occasionalist
ironism, such that there is no last word on anything. Political
romanticism is the doctrine of the autonomous, isolated, and solitary
individual, whose absolute stance toward himself gives a world in which
nothing is connecting to anything else. Political romanticism is thus at
the root of what Schmitt sees as the liberal tendency to substitute
perpetual discussion for the political...(xiii-xiv).

schmitt in strong.

Humanity as such and as a whole has no enemies. Everyone belongs to
humanity..."Humanity? thus becomes an asymmetrical counter-concept. If he
discriminates within humanity and thereby denies the quality of being
human to disturber or destroyer, then the negatively valued person
becomes an unperson, and his life is no longer of the higher value: it
becomes worthless and must be destroyed. Concepts such as "human being"
thus contain the possibility of the deepest inequality and become thereby
"asymmetrical" (xxii)

* examples, the jewish question, the roasting of 6 million jews PLUS an
equal or greater number of uhhumans, samuel hunttington's the clash of
civilizations, they're firing up the ovens for them buns, picasso's
guernica, the massacre of innocence, a prelude of things yet to come, the
dropping of the 1st a bombs, which has never been made right, so we have
the 6 french bombs down there in tahiti, and etc.

* d.t. suzuki's what governs life? the governing principle comes out of a
much deeper source, where neither logic nor intellection can legitimately
be sound (737, to be provided later).

* strong. ...Schmitt's conception of the political stands in alliance
with the subject of his subsequent book, Political Theology. There he
elaborates a conception of sovereignty as the making of decisions which
concern the exception. The political is the arena of authority rather
than general law and requires decisions which are singular, absolute and
final. Thus, as Schmitt notes in Political Theology, the sovereign
decision has the quality of being something like a religious miracle: it
has no references except the fact that it is, to what Heidegger would have
called its Dasein. (It should be noted that the sovereign is not like
God: there is no "Sovereign." Rather, sovereign acts have the quality of
referring only to themselves, as moments of "existential intervention")
(xiv).

* examples, pua kanahele's hawaiian warrior perspective, nahm-mijo's
change agent, einstein's personalities with lofty ethical ideals,
president g. cleveland's position on the hawaiian islands issue, the
politics of dishonesty.

* roger ames' cultural achievement

* lu jiuyuan 12th c chinese sage in birdwhistell, anne. d. "Social reality
& Lu Jiuyuan." Philosophy East & West, Jan 1997, p47.
human nature...the ability to order the world

* schmitt in strauss, the question of the order of human things the
question of the state (83).

* ok, so where do you suppose chomsky fits into all this stuff?
