On March 21, 2003 representative leaders from the celiac community were
invited to discuss how to more powerfully impact legislation related to
food allergen labeling reform. From this meeting the American Celiac
Task Force was formed. The Task Force agreed to accept the volunteer
services of two ladies, familiar with lobbying and legislative processes
and to guide us through this process of having a positive impact on
labeling bills beneficial to persons with celiac disease. Through the
union of research institutions, support organizations and industry
representatives, we will present a strong unified voice for labeling
reforms that will benefit all persons with celiac disease.

Each representative group within The American Celiac Task Force has a
job to do. Support organizations will ask you to become an active
partner in actions needed by persons with celiac disease. Your support
will add to the success of the Task Force. We ask that you contact these
support groups for guidance on activities you can do. These
organizations will call you to action and may post information on their
websites. They are also creating a list of people they can email for
quick action items. Please contact these support organizations for ways
to help.

Periodically we will provide updates of the American Celiac Task Force
on this list. Please share this information with your family and
friends. Our power is in numbers.

We thank the following organizations who have agreed to be members of
the American Celiac Task Force:

Research Institutions: Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University,
Peter Green, MD; Mayo Clinic GI Center, Joseph Murray, MD; University of
Chicago Celiac Disease Program, Stefano Guandalini, MD; and University
