Dave, I bite the bullet and pay.
I think that article also brings up an important concept, one that is
missing from many diet and exercise prescriptions. It's not just creating
an absolute calorie deficit that's important, but doing it at the right
levels that's key.
For example, you can create a 500 calorie deficit in different ways. You
can, say, expend 3000 calories and consume 2500, or expend 2000 and consume
1500. Both ways might produce the same amount of fat loss. But the lower
levels of eating and exercising probably have other effects, such as loss
of muscle mass, vitamin and mineral deficiency, and possibly fatigue. So I
believe that the high energy flux is indeed key in many areas.
