Here is a bit more information about the NIH conference:
The NIH is sponsoring a consensus development conference to explore and
assess the current scientific knowledge regarding celiac disease. The
conference will be held June 28-30, 2003, at the Natcher Conference
Center, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The
conference will assess the prevalence of celiac disease, its diagnosis,
long-term manifestations, and management, and explore directions for
future research. Experts in the field will present the latest in
research findings to an independent panel, who will then prepare a
consensus statement.
The meeting is open to the public. A press conference, and public
question and answer session will be held on the final day.
ACTF members -- Dr. Alessio Fasano, Elaine Monarch, and Dr. Joe
Murray -- were chosen to sit on the planning committee for this
historical conference.
The NIH Office of Medical Applications of Research website:
http://consensus.nih.gov/ will have additional information in the near
future.
Updates will also be posted the listserv.
