After all my questions and summary, I finally decided on the mixer to buy
and I wanted to tell anyone interested where the best buy was.
I spent a few weeks watching the local papers for sales and how I would
make out using coupons. Most stores (Kaufman's, Lazarus, etc.) only give
10% on home items. So I couldn't usually do better than $249, but even
with 10% off that, there was still sales tax to contend with.
I spent a few weeks checking ebay, as kitchenaid does sell their
refurbished that way, and there are really some good buys. I even called
the Kitchenaid store in Ohio for a price. Their Artisan, REFURBISHED, is
$179. (New was $249.99). They have free shipping and no sales tax if you
are out of state, which I wasn't. It came with three beaters and 1 bowl.
No pouring shield. It has a 6 month warranty.
BUT....the best buy.....ta da.....was Amazon.com. A Brand NEW Artisan
mixer, any color, was on sale for $237. They offer a $20 rebate, bringing
the price down to $217. But wait...there's more..... It has a promotion
until the end of September where you get a 3 quart bowl free. It also has
a pouring shield and 3 beaters. And it carries a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.
Amazon works out better than even Kitchenaid's refurbished....hands down.
Why pay the same money for a refurbished when you can get a brand new one.
FIY: Artisan is 325 watts of power, tilt head. It is the strongest motor
in a tilt-head version.
Just thought you might be interested in this. If so, you have til the end
of September before this special runs out. I ordered mine today....Almond
Cream.
