Thank you to all of you that responded regarding dining out safely. I had
mentioned that I had purchased the book "The Gluten/Wheat Free Guide to
Eating Out" from www.goodhealthpublishing.com. I was delighted to learn
that I could eat buffalo wings and ranch dressing from Pizza Hut but
unfortunately, I had a reaction to them. I checked with Pizza Hut and
they insisted that everything had been prepared without intentional
possibility of cross-contamination. Many of you that responded to my post
suggested this as a cause.
Another person suggested a reaction to ranch dressing as one of the
hallmarks of MSG senstivity.
Please be aware that the above mentioned book is only a guide to eating
out but we still must be cautious. Another restaurant mentioned is
Sonny's Barbeque--meats being safe. I checked with Sonny's because I was
planning on eating there this weekend and they sent me the following
response:
"I checked with our R&D Manager and he told me that all of our meats are
basted with a sauce that contains the following ingredients - molasses,
vinegar, worchestershire sauce and caramel coloring. I know, after
doing a little research on the Internet, that some or all of these
ingredients may cause reactions in people who are gluten intolerant.
Therefore, once again, I cannot claim that any of our menu items are
gluten free and I recommend that you check with your physician regarding
dietary restrictions."
