Several weeks ago I posted a question regarding the quality of flours
imported from Thailand (particularly rice flour distributed by Erawan
Marketing). The 2 responses are copied below. Currently I have chosen
to use the flour in art projects (play clay/paper mache).
--------------------
I have no hard facts, just opinion. I shop at my local Asian market
almost
every week. I have used Thai tapioca and rice flours since going gf 4
years ago. I have never seen anything but a uniform flour product. As
a
cook - rice flour and tapioca flour have a different consistency than
wheat
flour. I understand that wheat flour is not used much if any in
Thailand,
hence little cause for concern re contamination.
I am not a celiac (my daughter is, so I understand it well) - I am
exquisitely allergic to wheat - it gives me hives in minutes after
ingesting small amounts. I have never had a reaction to any gf flour I
have purchased from my Asian store. Neither has my daughter.

I've wondered about this. The only problem I have ever had is rancid
flour.
I use Ivory Brand, distributed by Nana Marketing Co. of Thailand
