Hi, All
For those who are trying to "bone-up" with good calcium sources, I found a great one recently at Whole Foods. Chatfield's Carob Powder comes in a 16 oz. container and is really good in place of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Just a 1/4 cup serving provides 10 percent of the daily calcium requirements. The only ingredient is roasted carob powder, and I also checked with the company to make sure it is gf. I was looking for some non-dairy sources of calcium when I discovered this, and now I replace my morning cup of tea with the hot carob drink. It tastes a lot like chocolate, only there is no caffeine in it. I looked carob up and found that it is a "chocolate-like" (in taste and smell) seed pod of a Mediterranean tree. Lots of nutients in this pod! Someone recently posted a suggestion of using Cook's Vanilla Powder, which they discovered is gf. I bought some and add this to my carob drink to make it sweeter. I'm sure that Whole Foods is not the only one carrying this brand of powdered carob.
I have absolutely no connection with Chatfield's......just wanted to pass on a new '"find".
