Dear list,

Wow. The response to my post about my cheating episode was overwhelming. I
was so touched by the content of the messages as well as the sheer number of
people who took time to write, rather than sitting at home, nodding their
heads, and moving on to the next message. A million thank yous.

Everyone, without exception, told me to give myself a break, learn from the
mistake, move on. Many, many people have been in similar situations and many
have been tempted. I would like to go back through the messages
individually- many people offered further support or requested to be
updated. I would like to follow through- Knowing how hectic December can be
for many people, I'm sending this initial group message to say THANK YOU and
I so appreciate all of your words.

In answer to some common questions: it was chocolate chip espresso
shortbread. Was it worth it? no- not when I could have just eaten something
just as good and equally as decadent. I didn't get too terribly sick- just
sick enough. Mostly my emotional and mental reaction was most bothersome
(although this could also be gluten induced!)

And to those who were impressed with my five years of gluten free living-
thank you so much, I do my best, but I can't say I've been totally safe.
I've had some accidental exposure here and there, especially at the
beginning, but I haven't blatantly cheated since the week after diagnosis.

happy holidays to all of you and thank you!

BZ
