Dear Members,
I wrote several months ago. My daughter was suffering from extreme
fatigue. You were a big help at the time and I'm hoping you can give me
a few more ideas.
Kristi is 29, mother of a 1 1/2 year old girl. She has suffered
from fatigue since high school, but it seems to be worse now. She had
the tests done by Dr. Fine last summer and found she is gluten and
caesin intolerant. After going gluten free, she noticed no improvement,
but when she found out she was caesin intolerant, she gave up all milk
products. She started feeling better right away and we felt so
relieved, thinking we now had the answer. But, pretty soon she was back
to square one!
She now eats more soy and rice products. We've wondered if they
are the problem. When her thyroid was tested, it was low. Her GP
didn't want to prescribe thyroid pills so sent her to a specialist. It
seems he (the specialist) was in a big hurry to get the morning and
afternoon patients all through in the moring so he could have the
afternoon off, so he didn't offer Kristi much time or help. From what
she has told me, he was definitely mainstream, thought she should
consult another doctor about sprue, even though she repeated several
times that she was gluten free. He felt that her thyroid wasn't the
problem (even though 3 generation of women before Kristi have had
thyroid problems) since she didn't have every symptom on his list.
Sorry for venting!
What to do next? Any suggestions? Fort Collins, CO seems to have
a good reputation for good doctors. Could any of you recommend a doctor
in Ft. Collins?
Your help will be very much appreciated.
             Carol
