I am 31 years old, had a baby 11 months ago, and have been sick for the past
6 weeks. My blood test came back positive (normal level 20, mine was 149).
I am awaiting the biopsy results but my doctor said my small intestine's
appearance was consistent with celiac. However, I was just told 2 other tests
were overlooked and both showed I was positive for a parasite (blastocystis
hominis) and have been put on a 10 day course of antibiotics. I have been
gluten free for 9 days and on the antibiotics for 5 days.
my questions are: (1) if I have CD, how long will it take on the gf diet to
feel better? and (2) is the blood test conclusive, does anyone know if a
parasite can mimic celiac even in the blood work?
Julie
