Hi listmates,

I have been doing well for the last year or so on my gf diet.I improved
even more when I became a fanatic about hidden glutens and gave up
eating out 8 months ago. Most of my stomach and bowel problems got much
better. Only a few flareups when I accidentally ingested something that
I should not not have eaten.

Now, during a routine physical, my doctor (not a CD specialist) was
alarmed that my blood pressure was very high 160/100. My blood glucose
level is also very high, although I don't have diabetes. She did not
seem to know what I meant when I explained that I eat lots of rice,
potatoes and corn, some of the few things that I can tolerate. She wants
me to eliminate all sugar and eat few starches to reduce my blood
sugar or I have to test myself each day for my glucose levels..

I know that I have been eating too much sweets since going gf as it was
so nice eating foods that did not made me sick(and gained 25 pounds
during that time). That, and my gf diet, may have hurt me in some other
ways. There have been other postings about the inability of those with
CD to process sugar and I am wondering if this is what is going on
with me? Also, could this increased glucose in my blood cause my blood
pressure to be high as well?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has any helpful ideas, but
please, if you email me, don't be negative or critical.

Howie, Scottsdale.
