Thanks for the information.
I think that using one's own weight in an exercise program makes perfect sense. That information I can certainly use (and gladly, being a cheapskate unwilling to invest in a gym membership).
The routines described are beyond my current level of fitness, but they give me something to aim for. :-)

I've had the same experience and I'm a big ol' guy (42, 6', 210#). I used
to always wreck my back and end up quitting. The last time I hit the
weight training wagon though, I had much better luck. In January, I
started the program listed at: www.paleofitness.com with good results. I
think the difference for me is the simplicity of the routine. I only did
a few exercises each trip to the gym.
I am now switching to an all body-weight and isometric routine suggested
