Hi All--
I've had several responses from people trying to guess
what bacteria my doc wants to test for, and from
people wanting to know what I find out.
I finally heard from the nurse and it's a lactose
hydrogen breath test, which the nurse indicated was
not bacteria-specific. She indicated that it was done
in endoscopy and took approximately 2 hours. (Must be
some breath test!)
The nurse indicated she doubted the test could be
performed here where I live (my doc is at a large
medical center 70 miles away), but that he is not
pushing to perform the test - just another option to
try to explain my symptoms. (The elimination of the
pain, vomiting, and elevated liver enzymes after going
on a gf diet weren't convincing, I guess....)
Cheers,
Ayn.
