I was diagnosed with osteopenia and am trying to deal with it without
prescripitons. Apparently being thin is a big risk factor and I was told by my
friends that I should gain weight. I am 5' 2" and now weigh 118. I have been a
vegetarian for over twenty years but started eating fish. But fish really
bothers me and now I'm wondering if I still need to gain weight. I haven't been
able to eat dairy for over a year, but I can tolerate a little now. I have
gotten used to a very strict diet and like being "thin." I thought 112 was a
reasonable weight for someone my age. I would like to know if other people with
osteopenia or osteoporosis decided they should gain weight and how much is
necessary. Also any suggestions on what to eat to put on weight would be
appreciated.

Susanne
