I haven't posted in a while. Taylor my daughter is 3.5 she was off
gluten for 6 weeks then started a gluten challenge about 2 months ago.
her symptoms have not really returned. there are slight (very slight)
ones of occasional stomach aches, rectal pain after BM's, but the MAJOR
issue is her mood, she has become unbearable. crying all the time no
patience very shy, wont separate all this is also happening around the
time i just weaned her from breastfeeding. i called the doc and told him
we needed some answers, he said i had two choices to go gluten free
again and if she is celiac that she would be a new woman in a week, or
to go ahead with the biopsy. i asked him about negative biopsies and he
said that you really have to take from different areas and that some of
the negative ones are from not performing them right. he has also
ordered a RAST test for wheat and a bunch of other allergies, so he said
if she comes back with a "whopper" to wheat that that could be it and we
could cancel the biopsy if i wanted. sorry for rambling but we are so
stressed with this its been 7 months since this all began and she hasn't
been consistent with any treatment. when she was gf her symptoms all
went away after about 3-4 weeks and her personality did change she
seemed happier and more peaceful. this probably seems cut and dry to
some of you that if she got better gf then leave her gf but we need to
have more to go on. if she is just allergic to wheat then if she cheats
it will just make her sick but if she is celiac and cheats she can
really pay the price. i am at my whit's end and any input would be
greatly appreciated. Our biopsy is scheduled for a week from Monday.
thanks Holly
