WILDERR |
W I L D E R R World Institute for Learning, Discussing and Evaluating Race Relations The World Institute for Learning, Discussing and Evaluating Race Relations is designed to open the dialog on race and race relations. While political figures call for a national conversation on race, few groups are willing to risk the political consequences of such a dialogue. Using race as a divisive force in world affairs continues the self-destructive, but seemingly acceptable method of dealing with racial matters in America. Since 1942, the Race Relations Institute has had the courage to pursue the goal of crating dialogue to influence public policy on race on a national and international level. The WILDER discussion list sprung from the 31st Race Relations Institute (31RRI) at Fisk University. This list and historic meeting continues the tradition of gathering together scholars, politicians, entertainers, and lay people in discussing the issue of race. This list has one and only one purpose. That purpose is the discussion of race and/or race relations. All other topics are inappropriate. This criteria will be strictly applied to all posts. SPIRITUS |
SPIRITUS / CENTERING PRAYER ONLINE GROUP follows the teachings of Fr. Thomas Keating, OCSO. It is an unmoderated ecumenical community grounded in the Christian contemplative heritage. The online group members are committed to the renewal of the contemplative dimension of the gospel through the teachings and practice of Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina. The Spiritus group was founded on March 7, 1997, by Mercedes Scopetta, in honor of Thomas Keating, OCSO's birthday. We have great appreciation for Father Thomas (1923 - 2018) who continues to be, through his writings and talks, our teacher, mentor and friend. His books, tapes, works and teachings are studied and reflected upon through the online group. The main purpose for the Spiritus group is to bring together a spiritual network to provide a communal space for those who are advanced in Centering Prayer practice, and desire advanced teachings, as well as to accompany one another in their contemplative journey. In attending to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, group members help one another to grow in intimacy with God, enfleshing that relationship in their everydayness, seeking "to live their ordinary lives with extraordinary love and utmost charity" (Thomas Keating). We hope to be able to welcome you to our online community. To subscribe to Spiritus please write to the Group Owners at SPIRITUS-request@LISTSERV.ICORS.ORG briefly describing your interest in joining the list and your experience with centering prayer. Blessings of this day to you, Joanne Warner, Cecile Betit, Terri Murphy and Mary Kay Hansen. |

MALCOLM-X |
List Information: The Malcolm X list (MALCOLM-X) is a discussion list devoted to all aspects pertaining to the life, philosophy and influences of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz -- Malcolm X. Hence, the Malcolm-X list welcomes discussions of topics directly related to the writings, speeches, taped recordings, photographs, movies, documentaries and the numerous books and articles written about Malcolm X. The purpose of this list is to identify, examine and separate the myths about Malcolm X from his actual philosophical beliefs and values and to develop a clearer understanding of his works. Malcolm X has come to symbolize power, solidarity and self-empowerment within the Black community. As this millennium draws to a close, it becomes more compelling to understand the agents of change which have shaped African Americans' thought, rhetorical bases and collective actions within the confines of Western culture. The icon "X" has come to signify one man's words and ideals. It is important that Malcolm X's concepts and ideas of group empowerment, rebellion against injustice and the ultimate refusal to assimilate, not be overshadowed by commercial exploitation and other romantic notions of Malcolm X. Who should participate? This list will welcomes young people, students, admirers, organizers, scholars and those interested in the life, philosophy and collective actions of Malcolm X. Pride of place will be given to contributions that foster a better understanding of: Malcolm X's objectives and underlying philosophy; his commitment to humanitarianism, his perseverance for freedom, justice, peace, brotherhood, and the union of mankind; his staunch belief in Islam; his social and political sensitivity, as well as his unequaled insights into human nature and race relations. This list also invites those who may want to share and discuss the view of Malcolm X as a "militant troublemaker," making a minimal contribution to the overall society. It is the Moderator's belief that all views of Malcolm X should be openly heard, analyzed and discussed. The Malcolm-X list will also discuss the theoretical actions of "what Malcolm X would say and/or do" about the current state of affairs facing people of colour, especially Black people in America. This "hypothetical" projection should be based on documented sources to support your analysis, ideas, theories and suggestions. However, there is room for saying "what you think" and to pose questions on all aspects of these discussion. In addition, as a resource to its members, the Malcolm-X list will seek to continuously identify the thousands of resources, materials, organizations and Internet sites revolving around the life and memory of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz -- Malcolm X. For additional information sent e-mail to: Malcolm-X-Request@listserv.icors.org |

This list is particularly designed to discuss generic issues in cross-cultural psychology and its intertwining disciplines, such as developmental, cognitive, personality, and social psychology. The discussion of topics of clinical relevance is n o t encouraged, but tolerated, because this is explicitly _not_ a major topic of CP. A main focus of CP lies in the discussion of both quantitative and qualitative methodology, research as such, and generic issues in the study of cultures. CP was an "edited list" which meant that each posting had to be approved by the listowner(s) before it reached the members. Screening criteria (among others): netiquette, commercialism, appropriateness, excessive quoting. * The scholarly conference C-PSYCH (Cross-Cultural Psychology) * (short: CP) is a forum for the exchange of ideas, opinions, * and information among all individuals -- researchers, * practitioners, students, and the lay public -- interested in * cross-cultural psychology. * * This list is particularly designed to discuss generic issues * in cross-cultural psychology and its intertwining disciplines, * such as developmental, cognitive, personality, and social * psychology. * * The discussion of topics of clinical relevance is n o t * encouraged, but tolerated, because this is explicitly _not_ * a major topic of CP. * * A main focus of CP lies in the discussion of both quantitative * and qualitative methodology, research as such, and generic * issues in the study of cultures. * * CP was an "edited list" which meant that each posting had to be * approved by the listowner(s) before it reached the members. * * Screening criteria (among others): netiquette, * commercialism, appropriateness, excessive quoting. |
