<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I received 8 replies. Thank you to each person. 1. 3 people asked for further updates on my own experience (listed below) 2. One person reacted with skin and stomach problems. (From what I've learned this was most likely the iodine solution) 3. 4 people had no reaction and stated there's no concern for gluten as stated by each physician. 4. I've been told by one person there are two kinds of dye available. One is iodine and the other is a synthetic iodine. My Own Experience took place today: The staff were pleasant and explained everything. I was comfortable throughout the procedure. An IV was placed into my arm and the solution slowly administered. I was told to tell her if I felt a coolness, felt flushed, or experienced generalized itching. These are signs they look for as a reaction to the dye. I felt none of the above. She stated that Benadryl would be given for those symptoms. The entire procedure took 45 minutes. This varies according to how many films are needed for each individual. I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU TAKE A GF SNACK. I had to have nothing by mouth after midnight and my appointment was 11am the next day. I took a banana, gf crackers, and my jug of ice water. I had to have another test after the IVP, but was able to eat my snack first.
