<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> First of all I want to thank all of you that replied to my question. Jelly Belly's are gluten free. I am also posting the reply I received from them. For those of you who do not eat dair, like myself, there are some Jelly Belly's that have dairy in them so make sure you read which ones are okay...................... Tracy We do not use gluten in any of our current flavors of Jelly Belly jelly beans, however, we do use corn starch in all of our jelly beans. Our Jelly Belly jelly beans and Goelitz Confections Pectin, Mellocreme and Gelatin candies are gluten-free and considered safe for the celiac-sprue patient to consume. In addition, you requested information regarding two specific areas: "The source of our 'modified food starch' and which 'natural flavors and artificial flavorings' are used in our products." In regard to the source of our "modified food starch," we use corn. Our "natural flavors" are identified on all packaging, and include fruit juice concentrates, fruit purees, coffee, peanut butter, chocolate, coconut and cocoa powder. We also use oil of peppermint, lemon, lime and tangerine oils to flavor Jelly Belly beans featuring those particular flavors. These products contain gluten and must be avoided: All of our Goelitz Confections Chocolate Malt Balls, Licorice Pastels, Licorice Bridge Mix, Dimples, Christmas Dimples, Deluxe Christmas Mix, and Speckled Chocolate Malted Eggs. The following Jelly Belly flavors contain dairy products and we recommend people with dairy allergies avoid them: Chocolate Pudding, Hot Chocolate, Gramma's Pumpkin Pie, Caramel Corn, Buttered Popcorn, Carrot Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, Egg Nog. We sell some of these flavors in bulk in our 20 Assorted Flavors mix and in our 39 Assorted Flavors mix. We are constantly creating new flavors, in addition to the ones mentioned above, and these may or may not include dairy products. We also feel it is important that you know that we produce all our Jelly Belly flavors on the same equipment. While we take care to clean the equipment between flavors, it is still possible for some dairy products to be transferred to any of our other candies. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that any particular flavor is 100% free of dairy products. We recommend you discuss this with your physician. To be completely safe, you avoid all of our products. Sweet Regards, Mr. Jelly Belly Chairman of the Bean
