<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> The answers were overwhelmingly for "fresh" turkey--no additives, no injections nor basted with anything--100 percent natural. Most said get the "never-been-frozen" kind. Another said she has had the best luck with generic "nothing added" frozen turkeys--usually sold under the store's label. One said Perdue "fresh" birds are all they use and his wife reacts violently to any trace--doesn't to Perdue brand. Another said she has used Butterball and her family has also used Honeysuckle White. A second person said "don't" use Butterball. Maybe it matters if it is "all natural." Others mentioned were Honeysuckle, Jenni-O, Albertsons, and Shady Brook. Seems the fresh "especially farm-grown" turkey is the best. One said don't pluck it yourself--hard devils to pluck apparently. Guess I'll call the meat market and get an order in for the fresh kind. Thanks for your replies. Sharon in KS (an ole wheat farmer's daughter)
