OK for CD Rom's the original transfer speed was about 150 Kilobytes/sec. the 4x,8x, 24x, etc. are 4x150, 8x150, etc. I don't know what the original transer speed of DVD is I think its was equivalant to either 16x CDROM or 24x CD rom I sure someone on the list will know. So when you see a DVD with the 8x/32x it meanis the speed is 8x the original DVD transer speed/ 32 x the original CD ROM transer speed. --Patrick Black ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Gistenson <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 1999 4:25 AM Subject: [PCBUILD] cdrw and dvd questions > Hello to All, > > I'm new to cd devices on computers, so I'd appreciate an explanation to the > following: > > Regarding a cdrw: What does: "4x / 4x / 24x" mean?
